South East Asian Movie Night

Sure this BMN is designed to appeal mostly to me but it's also South East Asian Night because I love what they're doing over there. I listed the Canadian movies we've seen last week but check out the South East Asian movies we've seen:

Mystics in Bali
The Boxer's Omen
The Stabilizer
Raw Force
The Devil's Sword
For Y'ur Height Only
Lady Terminator

And probably some others but I got sick of looking through the list. Look, the point is those movies are amazing. They're some of my favorites. I often say Lady Terminator is my very favorite. So Canada can go eat french fries and cheese curds covered in gravy for all I care, I'm with the SE Asians.

Hey, did you notice how there's no Satan anymore? That's because the guy in The Killing of Satan got rid of him in 1983. Oops, I gave away the ending. I might as well go though the whole thing now. After the threat of never-ending torture is gone Earth turns into a free-for-all fuckfest. The population balloons to 50 billion, there's mass starvation, war, misery. Thanks a lot Lando for killing Satan. Geez. Oh, hey, did I mention the main character is named Lando?

Why, you slimy, double-crossing, no-good Satan.*

The Intruder shouldn't be confused with Intruder, that grocery store horror movie that Sam Raimi was in. It stars Peter O'Brian from The Stabilizer, remember?

He has quite the interesting trivia section on Wikipedia that includes:

  • Peter O'Brian is known as P'OB to his fans
  • O'Brians most eloquent and interesting character is "Peter" in Jungle Heat. O'Brian expertly juxtaposes the character's tendency to use foul language with his "wow" expression in the scene where Peter is chosen as the suitor.
  • When filming The Intruder, Peter O'Brian actually took a severe blow to the sternum during a fight scene. When asked if he was in pain he responded "pain is weakness leaving the body".

This guy's the real Dalton!

Speaking of  weird things on Wikipedia, the picture on the entry for The Intruder shows the wrong The Intruder. Believe me, this movie isn't as classy as that one looks.

My copy does have one of my favorite things, subtitles from a different language on it, like Thunder of Gigantic Serpent! Anyway, The Intruder takes place in Indonesia so let's say it's in honor of one of my favorite bands, OJ Law, who are from Indonesia and are releasing a new album today.

Bonus third movie? How about director of Lady Terminator H. Tjut Djalil's other killer woman movie Dangerous Seductress:

Here's what happened last week:

* I also considered "This deal with the Devil is getting worse all the time."
