One For You, One For Me

This movie is for Marissa because of the titular ice cream location:

And this one is for me. Someone told me about a movie called Treevenge by the people that made Hobo With A Shotgun:

Bad Movie Night

Do you love movies where furniture and/or appliances attack and kill people? ...Um, I'm going to assume you said yes. Great!, because these two movies have that thing in them. Oh boy!, you're saying. Is it 1988's Pulse where someone is attacked by a lamp? No. Then maybe Maximum Overdrive? Well, appliances do come to life:

but it's more about the semi trucks. Maybe The Brave Little Toaster? Um, you do know the titles are pictured, right?

The Video Dead was on my list of most sought after movies that were out of print. Until I found it and it became sighted. It will wreak joy all over your face.

Death Bed: The Bad That Eats is probably most famous because of this routine by Patton Oswalt (mild spoilers, strong language):

My aunt bought me this movie. Thanks aunt!

Happy Memorial Day Part 2

I enjoyed Memorial Valley Massacre last night but I couldn't help but wonder what two misogynistic puppets would think of it. This answers that:

I didn't even notice the tea lights.

Happy Memorial Day!

Not just to the service people that gave their lives but to the ones that made it home:

The Return of The Re-Animated

We're approaching the one week anniversary of last week's Bad Movie Night and some people may be feeling nostalgic. Well, Big Bad Toy Store is accepting pre-orders for two toys that will allow you to relive it. There's the above Herbert West action figure from Re-Animator that you can make say, "Who's going to believe you? You're just a head."

Then there's this Tar Man from The Return of The Living Dead, the first zombie in cinema that I know of to say "brains!":

But really, all I want is this 215 dollar Flux Capacitor Unlimited Edition Prop Replica.

Oh god

now that the semester is over, i am once again underemployed. i have a lot of free time on my hands, so i have to make it count! last night we had a reservoir dolls BBQ to celebrate the season, so i made mojito cupcakes. they were a huge hit! i also spent a lot of time garnishing them prettily:

i am going to be a regular martha stewart!

Resolved Question

Personally I'd go Hayslip.

Bad Movie Night - Memorial Day Edition

I've been keeping track of how many Clu Gulager movies we've watched, he's only been in two. And we just watched our fifth Linnea Quigley movie this week. But Cameron Mitchell:

totally snuck up on me. We'll be watching the fifth movie starring him on Sunday. He played the dad in Deadly Prey, the doctor in Jack-O, the captain in Raw Force and the Lieutenant in Night Train to Terror. Those were great movies, Cameron Mitchell is awesome. I can only assume he plays someone patriarchal in Memorial Valley Massacre. And we haven't even watched Space Mutiny yet:

Anyway, Memorial Valley Massacre is the movie that seemingly is just about to show you breasts and never delivers.

I struggled with what movie to choose that had a military theme. I thought of Dog Soldiers, but that's the about the British Army killing werewolves. We're not supposed to remember foreign military are we? I have a movie called Combat Shock but all the reviews say it's a bleak and depressing combination of Taxi Driver and Eraserhead. So I settled on Joe Dante's Homecoming. He did direct the Gremlin movies after all.

Reservoir Dolls Win!

They easily beat their traditional finals foe, the Quad Squad. Dutch was awesome. Here she is performing a dance she co-choreographed. CNN has a roller derby story today. Oddly it's in their health section and is mostly about the exercise and injury related to the sport.

Teyona Over Creepy-Chan?

Last night on America's Next Top Model Teyona won over Allison (Creepy-Chan). This is despite crying all over her Cover Girl commercial,:

having a crappy photo and looking like Dr. Linda Li on Dr. 90210:

do i look old?

today i went to lunch at Arby's and when the dude rung my order up, i looked at the screen and it said, "senior discount". i didnt' say anything, becasue i enjoy the savings, but seriously, i look 55?!?!?!

Mash-Up Mania!

recently, I've become obsessed with DJ Greg J. He's kinda the poor man's Girl Talk (who's name is Greg Gillis- don't get confused!). Ok, not the 'poor mans's', more like the 'slighly-less rich man's version of Girl Talk. anyway... he has lots of free mash-ups available for download, and i'm linking to them here for your benefit. yes, i'm hotlinking, so bite me!
Smells Like Chicken
Rockafied
Music 4 Rumpshaking (this one's my favorite!)
Crunk Style DJ Mix

Enjoy!

Bad Movie Night

I decided we should watch some good bad movies this Sunday. Here's a handy key to understand what that means:

Good Bad - Lady Terminator
Bad Good - Crash (2004)
Good Good - Schindler's List
Bad Bad - SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2

For The Return of the Living Dead I put everybody on Clu Gulager Alert ("It's that cheap seed you been buying." -- after the pet budgie exploded in Nightmare on Elm Street 2), just like Crow in A Touch of Satan. This movie is the reason people say "brains!" when pretending to be a zombie. Writer and Director Dan O'Bannon has an impressive resume. He worked on the special effects of Star Wars and wrote Alien and Total Recall.

Re-Animator is a movie where people are animated. Again!

Best Cute, Talented Cat So Far

I can't believe he broke out the old, "No, YOU don't understand".

Haunted Toys "Я" Us

Growing up my parents always told me the Toys "Я" Us in Milwaukee was haunted. Well, it was across from a graveyard. And they referenced an episode of That's Incredible! that covered the story. Well, recently some awesome person uploaded that episode:

Turns out it was actually in Sunnyvale, California. Lies! My parents even repeated the thing about the ghost being some guy who injured himself by chopping wood.

The episode seems really fake too. I didn't think That's Incredible! would ever lie to me. Wikipedia says "The show has been cited as an influence on hip-hop culture in New Zealand" so now I don't know what to think. Sylvia Browne is in this clip and someone who doesn't like her has a site with a great logo.

He’s Behind You, He’s Got Swine Flu

The Streets wrote a song about swine flu. The video is clips from zombie movies. These are all good things. Let's name all the zombie movies. I don't recognize the graveyard scenes but the woman opening the door is from Day of the Dead. Now you!

For Dutch

Also, Know your Meme explains what that keyboard playing cat was doing at the end of that one video.

Wait, now CNN has a story about it and they just changed the headline from Dead Cat Is A Funny Punchline to Web Vids to Keyboard Cat Highlights Web Absurdity. The first one was better, I'm not buying that t-shirt.

Bad Movie Night

From what I Google final exams start next week so I thought it would be fun to watch Final Exam. Since it's the only test related horror movie I know of I thought we'd watch another college movie, Girls Nite Out AKA Gurl's Night Owt. Hal Holbrook is in this. The next year he would star with the currently-still-alive Patrick Swayze in North and South. But you probably know him best as Mitch Collins in Wacky Zoo of Morgan City.

Final Exam Drinking Game: Drink whenever an obviously gay actor expresses interest in the opposite sex.

Wouldn't it be fun if I made an exam for people to take when we watched these movies, all about Bad Movie Night movies? No? I was just kidding anyway. But only if you were serious. Example Question:

What are the three simple rules to follow for successful bouncing, according to Dalton in Road House? (one point each)

Atheist Coming Out To His Parents

I'm 'Jabba In The Special Edition' Years Old

This site takes a few of your favorite movies and tells you where you'd be if that movie were as long as your life. I'm this part in Star Wars where Jabba is blinking. I don't know what I think about currently being in a Special Edition scene. But at least they're still on Mos Eisley. I'll feel old when they finally get to the Death Star. I'm also to the scene in The Big Lebowski where Philip Seymour Hoffman says, "We were not aware of that, Dude" and they give him the toe. I'm at the point in Ferris Bueller where Sloane is having lunch with the Sausage King of Chicago. Where are you?

Update: I checked and it's going to take me 9 months just to get out of a Special Edition scene. Also, you can't enter 2009 but it looks like the youngest person I know, Jack Oliver, is looking at the Star Wars logo still waiting for the opening crawl. Maybe he'll crawl by the crawl.

Pain Don't Hurt

Ebert knew the glory that is Road House as soon as he saw it. That's why this guy has the Pulitzer Prize in movie reviewing.

Don't Miss Lists

Hmmm, slim pickins this month for new stuff at the library. Bold means hold.

DVDs
Tales From The Darkside, season 1 - Oh boy, I searched for this three weeks ago but thought the library would never have it. This is a George Romero created TV show that was originally supposed to be Creepshow: The Series.

Congo - Wait this isn't the gorillas-set-on-fire-by-lasers movie, just an episode of the BBC's Atlas of the Natural World. Boo.

Friday the 13th Part 3-D - I have a previous version of this movie but this is the just released version that's actually in 3-D. The library doesn't mention if they give you the glasses, though.

Repo! The Genetic Opera - I've heard very good and very bad things about this super gory musical. I'll give it a try because Anthony Stewart's Head is in it.

Fat Head - This is the anti-Super Size Me that proves you can lose weight when eating fast food for every meal by making reasonable decisions. I read about it when MST3K's Michael Nelson was eating bacon for every meal to prove it's not the killer everyone makes it out to be. Find out why Morgan Spurlock is a dirty rotten fraud.

Real Life Teens: Self Destruction - Call 1-800-DONT-CUT. Judging by LiveJournal approximately 80% of girls cut themselves. And all the boys are furries.

Vampire Secrets - Seems that they don't mind garlic but hate leeks.

Chick Flick: How Birds Produce & Raise Chicks

3 the hard way-- again - A set that has the movies Pacific Inferno, Kill Factor, White Fire and Mafia vs. Ninja. I haven't heard of any of them but judging by how many reviews I've found online that use my favorite phrase "hilariously bad" this could be amazing.

Skinny Bitch Fitness. Booty Bounce

Childhood Trauma: A Parent's Guide - I wonder if this is a how-to. Wear a clown costume and enter your child's room at night. Put snakes in the toilet. Grab their ankles from underneath the basement steps. I can't wait to have children.

Music
Now That's What I Call Music 30 - Well then you and I are very different people.

The Crow: New Songs For the Five-String Banjo by Steve Martin - I still haven't been able to get myself to listen to the Christmas banjo CD I currently have from the library. But still, Steve Martin. I wonder if his banjo playing is comically poignant.

Psychotic Supper Show by Tesla - This is the one with the songs Don't De-Rock Me and Toke About It. Yes, that one!

Death Rides A Pale Cow (The Ultimate Collection) by Dead Milkmen - I only have Big Lizard In My Backyard. I hear they get more mature later on. Anyone know?
