Twins Movie Night
In today's fast-paced world of hyperovulation, twins have become common place. Long has been the time they were seen as freaks more fit for the carnival or laboratory. Buying a ticket to see these movies was akin to paying a nickel to gawk at the Dog-Faced Boy. This has been Misremembering History.
Twin Dragon Encounter is not to be confused with Twin Dragon, a Jackie Chan movie that includes twins and martial arts and came out 5 years later.
While we're at it, don't confuse it with the martial arts/twins movie Double Impact either.
You get confused a lot. Are you okay? To help you, Twin Dragon Encounter is the one movie with real twins. They're from Canada. With this movie and after The Brain last week all you'll ever want to watch is Canadian movies.
Freaks isn't about twins. The focus is more on little people, "pinheads" and the limbless. But it does feature conjoined twins Violet and Daisy Hilton. They went on to star in their own movie, Chained for Life.
But we're going to watch Freaks instead since it's become such a cult movie. Not only did the Ramones adopt Gabba Gabba Hey (really "We accept you, one of us! Gooble Gobble" in the movie) but used the Pinhead in some of their designs.
Look out for the little person named Angeleno. He would go on to play half (?) of Master Blaster from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Of BMN movies, only Freaks and Halloween have been put on the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Some day White Fire, some day.
Here's what happened last week:
